Hi everyone, and welcome to the first edition of Stitch School!
Every month, I will do a deep dive into an embroidery technique, complete with the history, a tutorial, and how to apply it using different materials. This will be a bit longer than the other emails I send out, because there is a ton to learn. My hope is that you will come away from this with both practical knowledge you can apply to your projects, and a deeper understanding of historical and global embroidery.
I will also be sending out a digital embroidery pattern, which will feature the chosen stitch of the month. This will come out Monday, so keep your eyes peeled!

The History of Long and Short Stitch:
Long and Short Stitch is an incredibly versatile stitch, appearing in embroidery across the world for centuries. The technique alternates between a "long" stitch and a "short" stitch, to create a beautifully blended look, perfect for merging colors, filling large areas, and creating photo-realistic embroidery.
